After nearly a lifetime of being an outcast, Luke struggles to reinsert himself back into the world.
Laughter drifted into the shadows of Luke’s hiding place, sneaking between the trees like tendrils of some long forgotten childhood memory. Everyone was headed home.
Perhaps there would be a warm meal waiting for them, surrounded by smiling faces. He could almost imagine it, conjuring up pieces of dreams that were all but gone now.

Trivia
"An Unfamiliar Feeling" is set in the world of one of my longer works: "Grace" and shows a snippet of the main character's life after the end of the novel. Grace was the first novel I finished and it--and its characters--hold a very special place in my heart.
